AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Totally pissed off!...its that part in the process for me, where everthing begins to go wrong! Today I was doin well, had my chess board, robot/robotic hand an chess pieces...then 3ds max decides to fuck up and loose my flippin work, after saving sooooo MANY times. Now it wont open and has become a currupted file. seriously its da wrong time to be messin me around, i'm slow as it is :P
...I can't be bothered with this haha

olympic character

This is the character running the laburdle in colour...
stil alot to do but im gettin there

Model Sheet (Final)

My sports character...

This here is a female cyborg

The race will be in a labrynth type maze, with hurdles/obstacles/traps inside. Each competitor will race to the middle, grab the item from the middle of the maze and head towards the exit ..if they can find it. First one out, with item wins.

I chose to do a cyborg, not only to fit the brief of bringing futuristic, but to design and create a character that symbolizes athletics who have disabilities and still play sports (paralympic games), mostly amputee's. Here's an example..

In this animation I wanted to show that sports can be acheived by more an less anyone, nowadays men dominate the scences too much, so that's why I chose to do a female amputee... who run the world..Girrrls :)

The Chess Player (Model Sheet)

My chosen Chess Player...

This character is a 2way character (if that makes sense) and it will change his body round to play the other opponent in the animation. Not the best picture but you get my drift :) ...hopefully.

The Chess Player (ideas)

Just some ideas for the chess game character...

The Labrinth (in 3D/2D)

Want a 2D look to my animation, but not sure which media will be the quickest to create in, drawning the location on paper or creating it in 3D. But here I have created my maze in 3D and gave it the 2d look I wanted. Its just a quick creation.

My Inspiration

My inspiration for the promotional olympics game project, is from my interest of crop signs. mazes and labrynths. And really wanted to design and create a game around this area

...Mixed with a tint of the futuristic style, something along these lines

Quick Post

This month I've got soo much to keep up with, and I feel 10x behind. Not sure where I stand, or need to go next :P

when I get the time will I post up my ideas and the stages I'm at with uni work, for now I will share with you a drawing I did for the still life project. It's incomplete but here it is anyway.

I have decided that this will be one of my chosen items to feature in my still life image, and I will share the details of why later :)

Thought of you...literally

One of my favourite blogspots that I find really inspirational, is the Character Design blogspot. Just taking a look at what other animators/illustrators are doing, is a good way to acknowledge and respect other great artists. what also fascinates me is watching the documentary video's, you get an insight of what really goes on behind scenes and it kind of rubs the competition in your face, but at the same time it all excites me ..So today I "thought of you" and decided to share this video with others, who are yet to see this animation. An animation by Ryan Woodward, has became my chosen animation for this week ...Enjoy :D

Summer, Summer, Summer Tiiime Pt:2

My summer break was dry lol, with not much to do but draw my life away. I was back home with the rents, in a city I can no longer stand. I will admit that I hadn't accomplished much over the holidays, with no funds, and the need of certain devices/software, I didnt get to develop my skills or produce any work. Instead, I was mainly trying to complete any unfinished drawings I had left to do, while outside enjoying most of the summer days.

Around the beginning of August, I start a new project. An artist had asked me to create a animation music video. He wanted me to create a comic style animation, for his new track that is being released soon. Keeping things brief I'll give ya'll a lil taste of what going on:

This is the artist guy playing the hero - named Rhythm Man

Jessica - playing his girlfriend

JLG - The good scientist (on RM's side)

Oculus - The evil guy (aggainst RM)

Oculus - in action (storyboard sketch)

Rhythm man - in action (storyboard sketch)

an the stage I'm currently at.

I still have loads to, including to finish each drawn scenes, scan them in and separate them into layers for animating :P ...and I am doing this all by myself, a true animator lool..

So I'm gone for now but I'll keep ya'll posted, good day :)

Today's session

Today's session was to built the hand of a robot. The idea here is to understand the process of creating a working hierarchy, for rigging and making movement. I'd say I'm getting there, its the part after you've linked all objects to follow the first objects, that confuses me :P ... But as I said I'm getting there, more practise needed. Here's how mine looks:

Summer, Summer, Summer Tiiime Pt:1

And soooo... I'm back after an hectic summer, with much to tell and share, but I'll keep it brief .

Before the break things didnt go very well (shall got go into detail here), but it was peak times. Alot had been lost, and alot had been lefted behind. But overall, I have made room for the new, and being back at uni now I'm feeling the high spirits ahead. I have new projects and feel quite confident about things going on at the moment.

At uni, we have all been given 3 projects, and already im ready and excited to get all creative on their ass (reffering to the work and not the tutors :D), will share my ideas of each project in another post. But for now I'll leave you with this:

God knows that I'm blessed, so I will get by, and make the most out of my life, aim for the sky...Fly pass the moon, sit with the stars, show them my art, but I never could forget my piece of showing them my heart...
(NoLay - artist)

These are my creature designs in mind. Think I will combine the two to make one because I can't seem to choose one to work with.

I have added a gravestone to add depth to the atmosphere of the envirnoment, emphasising the cycle of life and death. eg. The scenery of trees and flowers indicate the sense of living things, and the gravestone to remind us of the ones we lost and love.

Random Rough Sketches

This pic was drawn for scale, only thing is I forgot to include the creature lol, but the nympth is there.

I suppose this will be the overall look of the environment, plain and simple :/

Some kind of half drawn plant, a quick 2mins was spent on this, and then decided that I could'nt be bothered anymore.

Just a pic I decided to draw out of mind, and I have no idea why a monkeys head is randomly involved, looks cute though lol.

Mad Nympth Renders

Just some random but weird renders of my nypmth

Some pics of what I've done so far, not much, but it's a little something.
(Environment)

After losing this file..my autoback up file only saved upto this stage, so I now have to redo this character and the organic being i had already started
:( bad times... anyway here is my bald headed nympth.

Some Idea Sketches

Overall Environment Idea (Rough Sketch)

Character Design

Shroom Close up (Rough Sketch)

Giving life – (idea notes)

A woman/man who helps out their relative, who seems to be researching science.
- person loves plants and doesn’t mind working there. But after changes
their mind after they know the plans of their relative
- Person hates their workplace, and one day becomes very angry. With their
carelessness, something within the lab combines and creates something
rather different

A girl/guy who has an obsession with dismantled and unwanted pieces, of , anything.
- Flashback of growing up, and in every scene he dismantles something.
He finally decides to create something from these dismantled pieces but
It’s not quite what they expect.

A Bugs Life (Inspirational Notes)

Relating to the Film Inspiration post, I had said that while watching 'A Bugs Life' I managed to answer a few questions, which I considered,  if i was to hit a problem.
Here are some of the questions/answers:

If I don’t put grass, where will she get her materials from?
-leaves
-use crops (grass like plant) and copy several times

Where will she get liquids from?
-squeezed flowers (stem)

What will she get/use for light?
-glowing mushrooms

What will take you to the next rooms (entry/level to other rooms)?
-tunnels
-tree roots

What will the tables and cabinets be made of?
-dried leaves (styled)
-twisted dry stem (rope)
-stick/branch into leaves

This was my first frankenstein character design.

This is one of my favourite designs, but after more development, I decided to design something more simple for modelling reasons. I do have more character designs for this project but I've decided not to post them up.

'A Beautiful Mistake'

Here is a very briefly written description of my interpretation of the story and character involved.

'A Beautiful Mistake' will be the name of the animation.
As the creator intends to create a beautiful being, its development and existence is truly a mistake.

Illusionist

-visual enironment

9 (movie)
Some of my inspiration is from the film 9, it has the overall feel of what I want to achieve. One of my favourite scene is definately the opening scene, shows a little of the creator at work. Here is a video just to show you:

-visual Style
-composition/camera shots
-storytelling

A bugs Life

-visual environment
-scale and proprtion of small bugs/beings

A lot of the questions/problems I have, were answered and solved after watching A Bug's Life.

A spiderwick Chronicle

I found this film very inspirational for the undergoing project, from character designs to environment development. I would say that this film has given me the most inspiration, for what I would like to achieve.
